Every month this year we will be publishing a photo essay of sorts that cover our travels in Mexico, with short descriptions of where we were when we took the shots, and what we were on-site doing. To start, we’re working with some of the local sights and sounds from the months of October, November and December of 2016.
After we finished up exploring Riviera Maya Suites, we decided it was time to also take a look at their sister property, the Palmar del Sol condominiums. It’s just a few steps away up on the 5th Avenue, so it’s closer to the action and the nightlife. And, just like their primary apartments and bungalows, there’s a variety of styles and sizes to choose from, with a focus on larger, family-or-group-oriented condos. Read More
As a general rule, the Hotel Zone of Cancun is filled with all-inclusive resorts, ranging from the smaller places with only a hundred or so rooms, up to the mega-resorts with 800+, 12 restaurants, 10 pools, and a sprawl that isn’t much different than a city dropped onto the beach. However, away from all the hustle and bustle of the main tourist strip are quiet areas, such as the Pok Ta Pok residential sprawl alongside the golf course. Quietly located on the back side of the lagoon, with eastern views out over the mega-resort skyline, you’ll find numerous townhouse, condo, and suite-style properties with much smaller offerings, more tranquil environments such as what is offered at Sina Suites. While we occasionally stay in hotels and resorts as part of our work with the Marginal Boundaries brand, our personal preference when it comes to the type of places we stay when it’s just the two of us on our own is generally some type of an apartment or condo rental. And while the type of accommodation is important to us, location is also key. However, one of the “must haves” for us is always Internet, because we work online. Thankfully, the Riviera Maya Suites in downtown Playa del Carmen hits all the right notes, especially when it comes to an uber-fast fiberoptic connection for those of us who need connectivity.
