My name is Tim Anderson. I support myself through my freelance writing as well as the various information products I sell at Complete Writing Solutions and here. You can find more information about what I do over at the main site by simply heading over there, but as far as what I do here, it’s really quite simple. I believe in something called freedom. The freedom to live life as I see fit, to spend my money on what I believe is necessary, not what some corporation/entity is telling me I need to spend it on. I love to travel, and I love exploring cultures around the world. This website is a way for me to share that passion with my fans and followers, expand people’s horizons when it comes to exploring cultures around the world and teach them just how easy it is to transition into and enjoy the location independent lifestyle while still retaining all the amenities, benefits and medical care they are used to having in the Western industrialized world.
I’ve been traveling since 1999 and living outside of the United States since January of 2008, which means I’ve spent a lot of time on the ground in various destinations connecting with the local people and cultures and “living like a local”, as I like to put it. I travel the world as a location independent digital nomad and live in locations where my money goes 3-4 times the distance it would in any Western country, yet at the same time I have every single amenity I always had when I was living back in Colorado. I cut my cost of living from 2500-3000 USD a month down to 600-800 dollars a month, I’m debt free and for all intents and purposes I’m retired, only working a few hours per day while enjoying a far more relaxing life than I ever did while working the 9-to-5 grind back in the United States. I work and live in countries and cities around the world, exploring new cultures, seeing exotic sights and indulging in exciting new foods and drinks and making friends with people from all corners of the globe.
My mission is simple: to dispel the myths surrounding foreign countries and to show you the how and why you should be living abroad as a location independent digital nomad rather than tucked away in the comfort of suburbia. I explain how to enjoy a higher quality of life that lets you spend 8 hours or more a day living life rather than working a 9-to-5 job, and I show you exactly how to live like a local in various countries around the world. The immersion guides sold here include detailed, hands-on information that is gathered personally by me over extended periods of time while I live in various destinations, ranging from the best schools for your kids to the best doctors to utilize as part of your medical tourism circuit, and I set you up with local connections to find cheap rentals as well as real estate, plus I go deep into the heart of each city and area, showing you the plazas, parks, malls, theaters, restaurants, public transportation routes and everything you need to know to integrate into local culture as a resident, not just another tourist.
Meanwhile, the information provided on the site as well as in our newsletter gives you detailed tips and hints on how to live like a local in various destinations around the world, how to set up multiple income streams to utilize for visas and the cost of living in places like Mexico, Bulgaria, Colombia and beyond, how to live like a king on what others consider a shoestring budget, and how to retire in a mere two or three years versus the 40+ years most Western societies tell you that you need. You can also read the completely free ebook, 30 Ways in 30 Days: Transitioning into the Location Independent Digital Nomad Lifestyle, which
is complimentary when you sign up for the newsletter. In short, I teach you how to live life to its fullest while exploring the entire planet, rather than only sticking to suburbia.
Prior to becoming a freelance writer and world traveler, I had a career as a third-generation ceramic tile and natural stone designer and installer in Colorado, specifically catering to high-end residential projects in Steamboat Springs and the other ski-resort communities, as well as along the Front Range region of Denver, Ft. Collins, Loveland, Greeley, and Longmont. From 1997 until 2002 I was the supervisor and foreman for Artisan Tile & Stone, a multi-million dollar family-owned company specializing in high-end commercial and residential projects, and in 2002 I branched off and formed my own company, Anderson Tile Company, Inc., which went on to be involved in such projects as The Porches and Marabou Ranch in Steamboat Springs, as well as various other high-end condos, spec-homes, and residential projects throughout the Front Range area from 2002 until 2007. Then, in late 2007, the economy brought the construction industry to a grinding halt. At the time, I was involved with a Bulgarian girl, and we decided to move abroad to Sofia, Bulgaria where she had an apartment.
Between 1999 and 2007 I had traveled extensively throughout Europe in between work projects, often for months at a time. This first-hand experience of various countries, foods, wines, and cultures culminated in providing part of the foundation for Complete Writing Solutions, which is now my day job above and beyond what I do here at Marginal Boundaries. That’s where I provide copywriting, ghostwriting, content writing and other forms of writing services for clients around the world. I had also been heavily-involved with the MMORPG medium of games since their inception in the mid-90s, a passion that would also prove invaluable as the company began to grow, helping me land writing jobs with various gaming companies writing guides as well as MMORPG editorials.
In January, 2008, I took my knowledge of interior design and high-end residential construction, my knowledge from years spent supervising a multi-million dollar family-owned company and combined it with my first-hand travel experiences, my passion for video games and my experience as a business owner, and embarked upon what would become the beginnings of Complete Writing Solutions. Since then, the business has grown in leaps and bounds and expanded into a global network of clients for whom I have completed a variety of projects.
My travel articles have appeared on USA Today, and I’ve worked on home improvement content for brands such as Dremel. I’ve written game guides for Killer Guides. I’ve written health, recipe, and eco-friendly articles for Green Diva Mom. I’ve written an extensive body of travel articles for Trav Buddy as a work-for-hire author, and I spent 8 months as a writer and editor for the kids-to-teens fantasy RPG Academagia. I’ve worked on extensive work-for-hire projects for Pure Content Media Limited out of the UK, ranging from travel articles to personal website projects on popular TV shows, cultural mythology, history, musicals, films, actor bios, space travel, spread betting and sports betting, FOREX, travel tips, visa regulations on a global scale, employment issues, press releases and more, and I continue to work for them from time to time. I worked with Textprovider out of Germany throughout 2010 on a work-for-hire basis writing SEO articles on a wide variety of topics, and I’ve written a series of feature articles and editorials for G Magazine TV, golf’s premier lifestyle and travel magazine . My articles on MMORPGs can be found at sites such as MMO Hub and Gamer God, and in 2009 I wrote two separate short stories for the background on a forthcoming science fiction MMORPG from GLM Entertainment out of Dubai. Using my years of experience in the field, I wrote home improvement content for Home Anatomy, and I’ve written numerous home improvement and other articles through Demand Studios. In addition, I’ve got a few short fiction sales under my belt to various e-zines and magazines, not the least of which was the first incarnation of Marginal Boundaries back in early 2010, which at the time was a speculative fiction magazine some writing friends of mine helped me put together, showcasing a wide variety of writing and artistic talent from around the world. In 2011 I revamped Marginal Boundaries into a lifestyle website based upon the way I’ve been living for the past 4+ years.
I lived in Sofia, Bulgaria from January of 2008 until July of 2010, during which time I visited a variety of countries ranging from Macedonia to Greece and her outlying islands to Turkey, Italy, Austria, France, Germany and Poland. Then, in September of 2010 I came to Cancun, Mexico (where I am currently based as of January, 2012) and began a working tour that will see me making my way through Central and South America, staying for 3-6 months at a time in various cities and countries, with no time tables or itineraries, writing immersion guides and informational products showing people just how marginal the boundaries on the map really are and how to take charge of their own lives and live the dream of a global adventurer while controlling every penny that they earn, utilizing information that you can only get from someone who has been on the ground, living like a local and sharing that information with you.
I’ve made a successful career of living life on my own terms and being effectively retired despite only being 32 years old rather than waiting to be 65, the traditional age at which most people are “allowed” to retire and pursue their traveling dreams, and I’m currently on a mission to spread that freedom to as many people as possible. Marginal Boundaries is my platform for helping people unplug from The Matrix and take control of their lives so they can explore life as a digital nomad with absolute freedom and control.
